Thank you so much to everyone who has donated.

The response has been completely overwhelming, and with donations still coming in daily, I don't have the strength right now to reply to everyone individually.

I do intend to read every message myself when I have the energy, because each one means more to me than words can say.

My name is Daniel, and in 2024, I was diagnosed with liver cancer.

It was not caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, but by a dormant hepatitis B infection that was passed from my mother to me at birth.

I have been through multiple liver surgeries, chemotherapy, local treatments and fifteen cycles of immunotherapy.

Unfortunately, despite all of these treatments, the cancer keeps coming back aggressively.

Today, a living-donor liver transplant is my only chance of a cure. My latest scan showed a new aggressive tumour, but the good news is that there is no evidence the cancer has spread outside the liver. If it does spread beyond the liver, a transplant will no longer be an option and a cure will no longer be possible.

In my case, the transplant process in the Netherlands is taking longer than my doctors and I can safely afford, given how aggressively the cancer is recurring. I am fully aware that I am sitting on a ticking time bomb, and I cannot afford to wait until the process finally catches up with the urgency of my illness.

After carefully reviewing every option with my medical team, I have decided to move forward with the transplant process in Turkey. My hospital in the Netherlands is already working together with Turkish doctors, and this route allows us to move much faster while the transplant is still clinically viable. Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by my health insurance.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have always believed that if something in my life needed fixing, it was my responsibility to find a solution. I have never liked asking for help, especially when it comes to money. I have come to realise that taking responsibility now does not mean trying to do everything on my own. It means doing everything within my power to survive, even if that means setting my ego and pride aside and asking for help.

The goal of this fundraiser is €100,000. The money will be used for:

  • Transplant surgery
  • Donor surgery
  • Prior donor evaluation
  • Hospitalisation and medication
  • Travel and accommodation
  • Medical follow-up, recovery, and a reserve for any unexpected medical complications

The donor does not receive any payment (these are worldwide regulations). The costs listed on my GoFundMe page cover the donor's medical evaluation, surgery, hospitalisation and post-operative follow-up — not a payment to the donor.

Everyone who donates deserves full transparency. I will keep sharing updates throughout this process.

If you decide to donate, thank you. If donating is not possible, sharing this page with others can make an enormous difference.

Thank you for giving me a second chance at a wonderful life.

With love,
Daniel
